A Little Bit About Me

Hi! I’m Amy. I’m a copywriter for coaches and mission-driven businesses, coach for copywriters, and founder of A18 Media – a full service online marketing agency. How’d I get here? After 5(ish) years working for corporate marketing agencies, I couldn’t help but follow my entrepreneurial spirit to do my own thang as a freelancer – and everything grew from there.

My background is a bit “all over the place.” From being a Wisconsin transplant now living in the OC (CA), to the variety of hats I used to wear while working for other people, the random variety of clients in my portfolio, and all my spiritual, energetic, and woo-woo practices I bring into my work… it’s a whole different vibe working with me than you might be used to. Only in the BEST way possible, of course.

How I Went from Small-Town Wisconsin to Thriving Entrepreneur

I’m a born and raised Wisconsinite who made her way over to Southern California via Chicago. Married, kid, house… check, check, check. Life is good.

I’ve been running my own freelance copywriting business that recently evolved into a full-service agency since 2018.

Someone once asked me if I always knew I was an entrepreneur and the answer was a resounding…. NO. I didn’t even really know what that meant and was very much raised with the idea that there’s a predetermined order for your life that goes: school, college, job, marriage, kids, retirement.

And while I never thought of myself as an “entrepreneur,” I always knew I was different. I knew deep in my soul that I wasn’t meant to stay in the small town I grew up in. I knew I was a born leader.

But how that would manifest itself in my life? No idea.

So after I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with my dance degree, I followed a boy out West and started my job as a traveling preschool dance teacher. I was promoted to area manager, which is where I discovered marketing! From there, I got a degree in Advertising, worked as an in-house content manager for Discount Dance Supply, bounced around at a few corporate marketing agencies, and eventually realized that I am NOT cut out for corporate life.

At one point, I started binging on online marketing and social media marketing podcasts to be a better employee at my job, but it actually opened up the world of entrepreneurship to me. Once I heard the stories from other freelancers and entrepreneurs, I knew that’s what I wanted for myself. So in 2018, I switched from being an employee to a freelancer for a lovely agency I still work with today, and the rest is history.

Personal development is the invisible element that you don’t think of right away with entrepreneurship, but it is CRUCIAL. The inner work, healing, coaching, mentorship, Human Design, money mindset, meditation, and spirituality… these have all been pleasant surprises along my journey and have changed my life.

And that’s what led me to get certified in NLP, Hypnotherapy, TIME Techniques, EFT, and Life and Success Coaching.

Because you need BOTH. Strategy and energetics.

And that’s what I bring to my coaching clients. The years of professional experience in corporate, at agencies, as a freelancer, and now as an agency owner, PLUS legitimate training as a coach.

It’s a beautiful thing, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
