5 Reasons to Activate Your Blog in 2019

blogging in 2019

Is blogging dead? My short answer to that is NO! There are still so many benefits to having an active blog on your website.

This is true for practically every industry, too. Here are five reasons why it’s so valuable to have an active and up-to-date blog page on your website.

Repurpose Your LIVE Video Content

Going LIVE on both Facebook and Instagram is very important for building your brand. You are putting a face, voice, and personality to whatever service or product you are selling which allows people to get to know you better, and trust that whatever they purchase from you is legit. So why let all your beautiful words just live and die in that one Live video stream? You can save that video and have it transcribed into a blog post. Outsourcing the transcription is very affordable and if you choose to do it yourself, it’s pretty easy too. Now your awesome Live video can live on as fresh, sparkling, awesome new content on your blog page.

Rank Better on Google

Google likes to see that websites are being taken care of and tended to. They want to make themselves look good and send people to the websites that will best meet their needs so that they keep using Google as their search-engine-of-choice. This is why they rank the sites with regularly posted content better than the ones that were built three years ago and never touched again. Your blog page can drive traffic to your site by posting high-quality content using the right keywords for your industry on a regular basis.

Establish Yourself as the Expert in Your Field

You know what you’re talking about. Even if you think what you’re talking about is “something everyone already knows,” that’s not true. The things that come easily to us are the things we are gifted in, and everyone is a little different. By having a blog on your website where you can post all of your amazing and wonderful thoughts, ideas, advice, and suggestions, you are establishing yourself as an expert in your field. Your blog has the potential to turn into a go-to resource for people who need the service you provide.

Here’s a fun example. There’s a company called Shoes for Crews out of Europe that makes slip-resistant footwear. They created a kick-ass blog (ha! kick… shoes… get it?) called The Gripping Blog where they post articles about their product and also about relevant topics that their customers care about, like “How you can prevent slip-and-fall accidents at home.” This is also an example of how they slip (wait for it) in one of their keywords – “slip-and-fall” (ha, I’m on a roll), into their blog strategy.

Get Featured by Other Bloggers

When I am writing blogs for my clients, especially hyper-local, list-based blogs, I do my research online. If your site comes up above Yelp in my search, for example, I know you’re legit and will visit your site. If your site is all up-to-date and has new and interesting blog posts, I’ll probably feature you on my blog and link back to your site too. So there are really two ways that bloggers are more likely to notice you if you have a blog! 1 – your blog will help you rank better and get found easier. 2 – relevant content is very helpful when us writers are researching blogs and we will give you a shout-out for providing the info too.

Repurpose Your Content on Social Media

Coming up with all the words all the time can get tedious. I’m a writer and sometimes even I just have no more words to share. But if you are posting blogs regularly you will have a hefty bank of so many words that you can repurpose on your social media pages! Guess what – there are some people who didn’t read your blog. Shocking, I know. There are also some people who missed your IG post from two weeks ago. Gasp! Go ahead and reuse the great content you have already created on multiple platforms. The person who is “supposed” to see it might have missed it the first time you posted it, so post it again. You owe it to them and to yourself.

So there you have it. My top 5 reasons why it’s worth your time to get that blog up and running.

It will take about three months to start seeing a difference in your rankings, but creating those big blocks of content in blog form will help make your content strategy and content creation much easier, almost immediately.

If you have questions or would like to find out if blogging would be a fit for your brand or business, I’m happy to help. We can plan a strategy session where I’ll evaluate the content you currently have and recommend what you should start making in the future. From there you can decide if you want to do the creating on your own, or try out one of my blogging/content creation packages. Contact me to learn more.
